Craps: How to Win in Vegas?
|
Here's a few basics you need to know in order to play craps, the most exciting
game in the casino!
|
|
|
Introduction:
|
|
If I had to suggest a site that really went into detail about craps odds, and how to play every bet, check out:
wizardofodds.com/craps.
What I'm going to show you here is the quick and dirty way to walk right up to the table, and start playing.
NOTE: "Betting Systems" never win! But scientifically
changing the odds of the dice wins most of the time!!!
|
|

Choosing the right Table: |
|
- Look for a somewhat empty table. The less people the better
- Find a table that meets your budget. Whatever you're willing to lose divided by 20.
EX. If you have $100, play a $5 minimum table (or less)
- Without being obvious, and if at all possible, knock on the table
(maybe one that's closed)
Just make sure it doesn't feel padded.
- If possible, see if you can tell if the dealers and pitbosses are friendly.
They're all usually nice when you start playing (or if you're losing).
But even though gaming is down, they'll act negatively if the table is winning,
intimidating people and scaring them away permanently. Thus, lowering their revenue, and job security.
-
Note, though, there are some wonderful casinos with awesome crews. You'll just have to find your favorite.

|

Placing your first bet: |
|
Basic Etiquette:
- Only make your bet(s) when the dice are in the middle of the table
- Don't put your hands over the rail once the dice have left the middle of the table
- I know this is silly - but just don't say the word "seven" at the table. Players are really superstitious
- Dealers are not allowed to touch you (in any casino game). So just place your money, or your bets on the table, and
tell the dealer your intention
- Only use one hand when touching the dice (and keep them on the felt side of the rail)
- Make sure both dice hit the back wall
- Tip the dealers when you can
Getting Chips:
Just place your cash between the 'Pass Line' and the 'Field' bets area (so to never confuse as a bet) - nothing needs to be said; but if you want just say "Chips please"
If you get the dice:
- Put the minimum bet on the 'Pass' Line
- Just toss the dice when they come to you, try not to make them bounce all over the place (but make sure to hit the back wall)
- 7 or 11 win, 2,3,12 lose at this point
- If you get a 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 (they're in big boxes on the table - real easy to remember), look to see if the dealer put the white
'On' button over the 6 or 8. If 6, put increments of $6 on the table, and ask the dealer to put it on the 8; or vice-versa.
For example, the 'On' button is on the 8, it's a $5 minimum table - put $6 between the 'Pass' and Field line - and tell the dealer - "$6 on the 6 please"
- At this point you're hoping for the 6 or 8 to win.
If someone else is throwing the dice:
- Don't interrupt the flow of the game. If you jump in, and push the shooter, or put chips where he's
landing the dice - and everyone on the table
loses - they'll blame you. So just wait till the dice are in the middle of the table again - then make your bets.
- At this point, I don't suggest putting money on the Pass Line. Wait till a point is established (the button, the dealer moves around, is 'On'),
then just place $12 on the table (if a $5 minimum table), and say "$6 on the 6 and 8 please".
Now, you collect anytime the 6 or the 8 hit.
NOTE: If your 6 or 8 miss - you don't lose. The shooter will keep shooting till a 7 comes out - then the bets lose (if the button says 'On'). If the button says 'Off' the 7 & 11 win - but your bets remain untouched till 'On' again.
The only things to really remember when increasing bets:
- Keep your bets the same till you win exactly what you put out there. In other words, you're playing with "Their money".
- After you're in a little profit, you could either "press" the 6 or 8 (add more $6 increments) - or place bets on the 5,9,4, or 10.
- Stay away from the bets in the middle of the table - by the dealer with the stick (Hardways, Craps bets, etc) or the field bets. These are "sucker" bets if used incorrectly
|
|

Leave when you're up or if you've lost your buy-in!!!!: |
|
- This goes for any game in the casino, and is the single most important thing to remember when playing
- If you must play then...
- Simply cash your chips at the cage. Put your original money back in your hotel room, or at least another pocket.
You're only going to play with your winnings - if you have any. If you lose that - you're done for the day.
- If you've lost what you're comfortable losing for the day - you're also done for the day.

|

Is this going to help you win at craps?
|
|
Heck No! This was just a quick explanation on how to play, and make your money last just a little longer than the average Joe/Mary.
The casinos don't have these exotic casinos built because most people win.
To actually win - you need to know what most don't know! |
